Beneath compared with other iOS developer tools
If you are looking for a way to inspect web pages on an iPhone or iPad, there are a handful of apps worth knowing about. These pages compare Beneath with each of them, using their own App Store descriptions rather than our impressions.
Two of these apps inspect web pages like Beneath does. Two are utility collections. Beneath now ships ten developer tools as well, so it overlaps with both groups, but only the first two are true alternatives. Each page says which kind it is comparing before it shows you a single feature row.
Wondering about the bigger question first? See Chrome DevTools on iPad and iPhone, which covers the Mac and desktop-tool routes alongside the on-device one.
Apps that inspect web pages
These are direct alternatives to Beneath. All of them are Safari extensions, where Beneath is a standalone browser.
Apps that overlap on tools, not on inspection
These are offline utility collections. Beneath now ships ten developer tools of its own, so these two genuinely overlap with it on conversion. Neither of them inspects a live page, which is where the overlap stops.

Our method, and our bias
We build Beneath, so treat these pages as what they are: a comparison written by an interested party. Three things keep them honest.
- Figures are sourced, not remembered. Every price, size, version and rating came from Apple’s iTunes lookup API for the Netherlands storefront on 15 September 2026.
- Capabilities come from the other app’s own words, not from our testing impressions. Where a description is silent, the row says undocumented instead of no.
- We list what Beneath lacks. Beneath has no regex evaluator, no fake data generator, no REST client and no page audits, it charges for seven of its ten tools where Dev Tool Box gives all ten away free, and Web Inspector has years of ratings where Beneath has none yet. Those facts are on the pages, not buried.
If we have something wrong, tell us and we will correct it rather than quietly leave it.
